ROMAINIA 2012

Romania 2012

OUR ROUTE

Starting on 28th Feb - we get the overnight ferry from Hull to Rotterdam, arriving in Rotterdam early in the morning of the 29th.

The convoy then drives through the Netherlands into Germany, past Frankfurt heading south-east. We have an overnight stay in Germany, near the Austrian border, then continue the next day into Austria, past Vienna and on into Hungary. Through Hungary and just over the Romanian border for another overnight stay.

Next day we are again up before dawn for several drop off points around Romania including Sfantu Gheorge and Sighisoara (the birth place of Dracula!). We have 2 days in Romania visiting projects before heading home along the same route. A round trip of roughly 3000 miles.

In what has to be one of our largest ever trips undertaken we are very proud and excited to be taking over £2,500,000 worth of much needed humanitarian aid. This spread over 6 Lorries gives us a staggering combined total load over a massive 100 TONS of goods.

Aiding our trustees, Mark Murphy (Wetheralds Painters & Decorators LTD), Jamie Search & Charlie Lister (Both of William G Search Ltd) and Gary Dooley (PURE Creative Marketing Ltd) tackle this mammoth 4,500km round trip are our volunteers:

Graham Nixon - Nixon Hire, Newcastle

Guy Hudson - Lynx Clothing, Harrogate

Ian McKenzie, Harrogate

Terry Roscoe - Central Catering Services, Wigan

Jonathan Howarth - Central Catering Services, Wigan

James Ruddy - Eclipse Colours, Bradford

Andrew Hillas - Otley

Mark Feather - Goldsborough

Thank you to all our drivers without whom this aid trip couldn't happen!
